Meetup Wrap up
The meetup was a huge success and WAY more than what I expected and could even hope for. I want to thank everyone for showing up and supporting me and the vintage computer community none of this could have been possible without you.
I had no idea what to expect so I scheduled the small conference room at my local library about 2 months ago. This turned out to be not large enough due to everyones support and the great turn out.
We were lucky that the group that had reserved the large conference room did not show up so the library was able to move us to that room. This turned out to be perfect for our group where we could accommodate everyone and has additional room if we need it.
There is a lot to be said for build it and they will come. This was true in our case and became our little fields of dreams.
While I have this low key with very little overhead there was a single point in time count of 30 people! From my photos there are about 20 awesome machines! This is downright amazing with a lot of them that I had not seen before.
I am glad that the DMV+ area had provided a great turn out. I added + as I know there was at least 1 person from the Richmond, VA area and 2 others from Hagerstown, MD.
With the success and enthusiasm from the community I am planning to do 3 events a year at the Library spread out of the year.
The dates will be flexible as I can only reserve the room 2 months out and will be doing my best to not conflict with other events I am aware of in the area.
I will be using my main Vintage Computer Meetup page as the landing spot for new information as it becomes available.
Thank you all again for helping make this a success. I am VERY happy on the new friends I have been able to make and look forward to making more along with catching up with now old friends.
Dinner after
We had 12 join us for dinner at a local restaurant not far from the venue. The Lebanese Kitchen fit our groups need and where accommodating to us.
